I created the logo design for the Austin Regional Tournament. The tournament is a area regional for the National Science Olympiad, an organization that I dedicated my life to during high school and something that is dear to my heart.
Science Olympiad is a premeire science competition that provides rigorous, standards-based challenges to over 7,000 teams in all 50 states. The ever changing lineup includes events in diverse science categories.
Logo Design
A logo needs to be simple, instantly recognizable, and represent the oganization well. ATX is a well known abreviation around Texas for "Austin." I decided on a simple text logo with an embelished letter. The embelishment lies within the DNA embedded in the 'X.'
T-shirt Design
The tournament wished to sell shirts with a science design on it as well. I integrated the logo into a collage of science symbols and images. Balance between all of the figures was paramount to making a clean shirt that other would like to buy and wear. I was informed that after a run of about 150 shirts, only two large shirts were left.
Banner
Lastly, the tournament wished to print a large scale banner with the same symbols after seeing the t-shirt design.
